Fancy getting some fresh air and discovering the Médoc in a different way? At Margaux Médoc Tourisme, set off on trails that blend nature, heritage and escapism. On foot or by bike, between estuary, vineyards and forests, each itinerary invites you to experience the area with intensity, at your own pace.

The Amadour Trail - GR 81

What if you walked into a legend? The GR 81, also known as the Chemin d’Amadour, offers more than 500km of itinerary between Soulac-sur-Mer and Rocamadour. This long-distance hiking trail crosses some of the most beautiful countryside in the South-West, between the Gironde estuary, prestigious vineyards, abbeys, bastides and villages steeped in history.

The Médoc stages:

  • Pauillac → Fort Médoc (30 km): Between estuary and military heritage, a crossing punctuated by carrelets and the majesty of Fort Médoc.
  • Cussac-Fort-Médoc → Margaux → Le Pian-Médoc (23.5 km): Head for Margaux and its Grands Crus Classés, a symbol of the Médoc art of living.
  • Le Pian-Médoc → Bordeaux (21 km): A beautiful arrival in Bordeaux, a city of art and history.
    Margaux, the pearl of the vineyards, welcomes you with its vineyards, gastronomy and hospitality. An epicurean and restful stopover, in the heart of a living Jacobean heritage.

The Tours Way - GR 655

Follow the golden shells on the ground… You’re on the Via Turonensis, one of the historic routes to Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle.From Paris to the Pyrenees, this peaceful and spiritual route crosses our region with a rare authenticity.

An emotionally-charged stage

Embark at Blaye and cross the estuary by ferry to Lamarque, gateway to the Médoc. Then follow the signposted paths through Macau, Margaux, Le Pian-Médoc and Soussans, past vineyards and villages.

You don’t have to be a pilgrim to enjoy this! Whether you’re walking for an hour or several days, this stretch of the route offers an immersion in the history, nature and hospitality of the Médoc.

By bike : routes and loops through vineyards, estuary and forests

Cycling is your best ally for discovering Margaux Médoc in complete freedom. Between wine châteaux, secret marshes, typical villages and panoramic views over the estuary, our signposted cycle loops guarantee unforgettable rides.

The must-do on two wheels:

  • Boucle des Châteaux – Margaux-Cantenac: 18 of the 21 grands crus classés in a single route.
  • Boucle des Palombes – Labarde : Goshawks, marshes and rare biodiversity in a wild setting.
  • Boucle des Pins – Le Pian-Médoc : A cool break in the Médoc forest.
  • Route de l’Estuaire – Lamarque : 31 km of happiness between carrelets, Vauban heritage and breathtaking landscapes.

Walking tours
