Château Desmirail

In the heart of the Margaux appellation, one address attracts lovers of wine and history: Château Desmirail, a family estate now run by Denis Lurton, who is perpetuating the heritage of several centuries with a resolutely contemporary vision.

An estate steeped in history

Behind the beautiful wrought iron gate, you discover an elegant 18thᵉ century Carthusian monastery, surrounded by winery buildings blending ancient charm and modernity. From the very first steps, the tone is set: here, tradition and innovation meet in harmonious dialogue. The name Desmirail, linked to Médoc winegrowing since 1741, became part of history when it became Troisième Grand Cru Classé in 1855.

An immersive, sensory tour

Discovering the estate plunges you into the universe of a Margaux Grand Cru Classé, between tradition and modernity. You explore the winery buildings, including the historic vats, true testaments to the know-how passed down for generations. The latest vat room was designed in a more intimate style by Denis Lurton.

As you follow the tour, you’ll learn about the precise winemaking processes, the attention paid to each stage, and the conscious choice to use sustainable viticulture, which respects the environment. The tour ends with a tasting, where the aromas of Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon and Petit Verdot reveal all the finesse of Desmirail wines.

Wine as an experience

Themed workshops, olfactory tastings or food and wine pairings… Château Desmirail offers much more than a simple visit: it’s a real plunge into the world of the great wines of Margaux, combining finesse, fruit and ageing potential. Whether you’re a curious wine-lover or a seasoned enthusiast, you’ll love this sensory experience.
